He exercises his diverse imagination as a member of the problematic realities he depicts in his works, as the creator of his paintings and as a messenger of futuristic vision and artistic desire.

He freely transcends not only perspectives and distances but also dif-ferent attitudes and methods in the relational net of disparate spheres through analytical research, exposure of conflicting elements, keeping critical distance, conflation of heterogeneous elements, making a foray into reconciliation and embracing individuals as the whole.

His nomadic imagination has played the role of adjusting the strength of tension, repeating deviations from authority and balancing authorities of diverse aspects and methods.

Artist Hur Jin(ARTIST HUR JIN,許塡,허진 작가,한국화가 허진,HUR JIN,허진 교수,허진 화백,A Painter HUR JIN)has drawn attention as a modern heir of Korean-style painting with a double-edged sword. He showcases diverse identities through the resurrection of narratives regarded as the preserve of postmodernism and avant-garde art and the spirit of self-denial.

He has been constantly called upon to have strict self-reflection on and to overcome the limits of Korean style painting. He has also always been expected to do as much as he is required to in this role. This is perhaps because of his background and career.

Hur Jin is the great-great-grandson of Sochi Hur Ryeon, the best pupil of Kim Jeong-hui and the progenitor of the Honam Southern School of painting, as well as the eldest son of the eldest son of Namnong Hur Geon, the master of the modern Southern School of painting.

He has inherited the painterly vein of the Unlim Sanbang. He studied Oriental painting at Seoul National University and its graduate school and currently serves as a professor at Chonnam National University.
