His recent series Nomadic Animals+Humans shows his unique artistic disposition. The title of this series is the remainder of an interesting story that may intrigue even those unfamiliar with art. Visible in the series are animals against backgrounds of intense hues and people painted entirely in black.

These objects are in disarray without any location and direction. Also, viewers might feel strange and become curious about his anonymous and prosaic people, flowers and a hodgepodge of various animals. Their curiosity is stimulated by these images leading them to question why the artist did these paintings.

This questioning provides a unique experience. That is to say, they could sense something unpredictable, something potent yet ambiguous that is great and hot like an explosive power. This is perhaps an experience different from the experience of the sublime Immanuel Kant argued. As such, Hur’s paintings display an exquisite combination of endless mystery and humanistic intimacy stemming from our reality.
