25years ago I introduced Choi Ye-Tae as the most advanced person in abstract painting in korea in the radio interviews and newspaper articles I was running in serial at the time. I had an opportunity to see his very special exhibition a while back following the dozens of exhibitions held in Paris by several Korean artists.

25년 전 나는 이미 최예태 화백(崔禮泰 作家, CHOI YE TAE)의 미술세계를 그 당시 연재하던 신문과 라디오 방송에서, 한국의 구상 미술화가 중 가장 앞선 인물로 소개한 바 있다. 몇몇 한국 화가들의 프랑스에서의 이십여 회의 전시회에 이어, 얼마 전 그의 중요하고도 아주 특별한 전시회를 볼 수 있었다.

Paris is not a strange place to Choi. He studied several years at Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and he also studied under the Yves Brayer, one of the greatest abstract artists in France. The master once told me in highest terms of Choi about his talent and passion.

파리는 최예태 작가에게 그리 낯선 도시는 아니다. 그는 Academie de la Grande Chaumiere에서 몇 년간 유학했고, 프랑스 구상미술의 대가 중 한 명인 Yves Brayer의 제자였다. 그는 내게 서양화가 최예태(ARTIST CHOI YE TAE)의 탁월한 재능과 열정에 대해 칭찬을 하고 했었다.

He attracted a great deal of attention of the art lovers in France, both professionals and non professionals with the works he displayed at Salondes Artistes Francais in 1980 and Salon d’Automne. He showed his genuine originality at La Grande Ombre et Lumieres in June, 2001.

다른 프랑스 화가들, 아마추어, 그리고 그림을 사랑하는 사람들은 1980년 Salondes Artistes Francais와 1990년 Salon d'Automne에 출품한 그의(최예태 작가,서양화가 최예태, 최예태 화백,CHOI YE TAE,ARTIST CHOI YE TAE,崔禮泰)작품에 크게 주목을 했었다. 드디어 2001년 6월 La Grande Ombre et Lumieres에서 열린 전시회에서 최예태 화백의 독창적인 재능을 진정으로 발견 할 수 있는 기회가 있다.
