Song Kwang Ik's discordant structure exudes shamanistic atmosphere, which is made of paper and stacked transparent tape in layers. A series of protruding paper structure maintains a regular pattern vertically and horizontally yet the cross section of them becomes cutting embodied with delicate order and deep silence.

These stacked layers of paper permutated in natural changes and pattern raise the doubt about visual experience and religious awe at the same time because they look solemn, pathetically mysterious and ascetic.

 

They are light as feathers yet strict forms which are colored palely and might disturb the vision limitedly, sometimes freely and implicitly, but finally exhibit the autonomy of art highly purified.

Being severe visually and seductive tactually, his pictorial objects become the wave that shake the air quietly as Harold Rosemberg said “Painting is not to draw object, but painting itself becomes object.”
