The Youngeun Museum of Contemporary Art opens the invitational private exhibition,‘ Longevity, Happiness and Melody Soaked in Paper’ of artist Park Chul, representing the genre of traditional Korean paper relief painting in Korea, as the first exhibition of the year of 2014.

영은미술관은 2014년도 첫 전시로 국내 ‘한지(Hanji,Korean Paper) 부조회화’장르를 대표하는 박철 작가(서양화가 박철, 박철 화백, 朴哲)의 초대개인전 <지(紙)에 수복(壽福)을 담다>를 개최합니다.

Artist Park Chul, uses straw matting, door frames and wooden tablets with various decorative designs, materials used by our Korean ancestors but are sadly being abandoned nowadays and he crafts a different story through his art.

우리 옛 조상들이 사용하던 멍석이나 문틀, 떡살 등과 같이 오늘날 아쉽게 잊어지고 사라져 가는 것을 차용하여 작품 속에 또 다른 이야기를 만들어 가고 있는 박철(PARK CHUL)작가만의 작품세계를 재조명해 볼 수 있는 계기가 될 것입니다.

This exhibition will be a welcome opportunity to review his unique works. Since 1991, the artist is engaged in a new venture, matching different characteristics in one scene, under the name ensemble.

1991년도부터 작가는 또 하나의 새로운 시도로서, ‘앙상블’이란 이름으로 연구되고 있는 서로 성질이 다른 것을 한 화면에 병치시키는 작업을 하고 있습니다.
