In park, Dong Yoon's artistic career Affectionate Things made its first appearance in 1998 in the form of engraving or etching in aquatint. This work was executed in the similar vein with Space Affections in 1997, by using the similar subjects matters of the traditional Korean pots, plume blossoms, and Chinese characters. Further, it is also related with the traditional pots, window frames, and blue apples which were depicted in his work of Tea Time, View the Moon in 1995.

박동윤 작가의 작품 여정에서 ‘Affectionate Things’이 처음 등장한 것은 1998년 에칭과 아쿼턴트를 사용한 판화에서였다. 이 작품은 한해 전의 ‘Space Affection’에서 같은 기법으로 다룬 항아리·매화의 얼룩·한문을 소재로 한 것과 연장선상에서 이루어졌고, 더 일찍이는 1995년의 ‘Tea-Time’, ‘View the Moon’의 도자기·창틀·푸른 사과를 그렸던 것과 무관치 않다.

Although most of Park's previous work were made of prints or engravings, since the last year, however, he has developed his artistic talent on canvas. Specifically, his recent works are done mainly by canvas work, extending his know-how shown in his prints.

일련의 맥락을, 이전까지는 주로 판화를 통해서 일구어냈지만, 서양화가 박동윤은 지난해부터는 캔버스작업으로 발전시키고 있는 중이다. 특히 근작전은 모두가 캔버스로 채워졌고, 판화에서 이룩했던 노하우가 그대로 확장되고 있음을 보여준다.

At first, his canvas works were started from his observation study on material quality. Matter+Matter, his early work executed in 1987, was made on canvas by painting graphite material thickly, adding several pieces of wood and steel plates. It takes the effect of repetition with the uses of the same canvas frames with a view to establishing the independence of the plane quality and material characteristic.

애초, 그의 캔버스작업은 물질성의 탐구로부터 시작되었다. 1987년을 전후한 초기 시대의 ‘Matter+Matter’는 캔버스에다 흑연을 두텁게 바르고 나무막대기, 아니면 철판을 곁들이거나 가로와 세로의 캔버스 프레임과 동어반복의 구획들을 설정함으로써, 평면의 자립성과 물질성을 강화하는 방향으로 나아갔다.
