청산(靑山)은 매번 처음 보는 것처럼 새롭고 눈부시다. 자연이 만들어 내는 조화는 늘 가슴 두근거리고 설렘 잃지 않게 해준다.

Green mountains are always fresh and dazzling as if I am watching them for the first time. The harmony created by nature always makes my heart pound and flutter.

북한강 대성리. 햇빛 부서지는 어린잎들, 굽이굽이 산자락 밑에 옹달샘 있을 듯 한 아늑함, 쉬엄쉬엄 오를 수 있을 것 같은 오솔길과 이름 모를 풀잎들이 아기자기하다. 바람만이 스치는 고목나무가 겨울을 이겨내는 고통, 잊혀져가는 외로움, 북한강의 한가로움이 천년 먹(墨) 내음 만나 소리 없이 스쳐간 시간 속에 다시 나를 찾게 된다.

Bukhan River in Daeseong-ri. Young leaves are bright under the sunlight. The meandering paths at the foot of the mountain where spring may have already arrived give me a cozy feeling. The narrow paths that I could easily walk on and the nameless grass leaves are charming. The old trees must struggle to overcome the cold winter and feel lonely as they are forgotten. I find myself at the moment when the quietness of Bukhan River silently meets with the scent of thousand year old ink sticks.

지금까지 붓을 놓지 않고 그림을 그려 낼 수 있는 건 우리가 살아내고 있는 세상에 관심과 애정을 지속시켜 주고 소통하고픈 꿈이 있기 때문이다. 눈과 마음 씻고 숲을 지나는 바람소리와 창(窓)으로 비쳐드는 햇살로 잔잔한 기쁨을 느낀다.

I could keep drawing pictures because I had a dream of sustaining care and love and communicating with the world. I still feel joy in the sound of wind that washes my eyes and heart while passing through the forest and the sunlight shining through the window.

지금까지 붓을 놓지 않고 그림을 그려 낼 수 있는 건 우리가 살아내고 있는 세상에 관심과 애정을 지속시켜 주고 소통하고픈 꿈이 있기 때문이다. 오래토록 그림 속에서 먹 향기와 숨어있는 물소리와 새소리를 들을 수 있기를….

I could keep drawing pictures because I had a dream of sustaining care and love and communicating with the world. I hope that I could smell the scent of ink sticks and hear the hidden sounds of water and birds in pictures for a long time.
