최근 나는 부산, 보성, 일본 오사카 등 국내외 다른 여러 지역들을 여행하고 있다. 그러다가 깨달은 사실은 여행 중에 스킨케어나 메이크업을 하는 것이 꽤 고통스럽다는 것이다. 하지만 몇 가지 훌륭한 제품들을 갖고 있다면 그 과정이 훨씬 쉬워질 수 있다는 것도 알게 됐고 그 제품들을 독자들에게도 공개하고 싶다.
첫 번째 단계는 클렌징이다. 난 여행을 갈 때는 2가지의 다른 클렌징 제품을 챙긴다. 먼저 소개할 제품은 평소에도 신뢰하는 브랜드 숨(Su:m37)의 미라클 로즈 클렌징 스틱이다. 고형의 완제품이라 양이 넉넉해 주로 장기간 여행을 떠날 때 챙기는 제품이다. 이 제품은 질감이 크리미하고 부드러운 데다 pH 농도도 적당해 평상시에도 애용하는 제품이다. 플라스틱 용기라 가볍고 피부에 도포하기도 쉬워 여행에 동행하기 더 제격이다. 게다가 다른 클렌징 제품과 달리 고체형이라 비행기에 반입할 수도 있고 흐를 염려도 없다.
또 다른 유용한 클렌징 제품은 일본 제품인 수이사이 뷰티 클리어 파우더로, 이 제품은 아주 작은 개별 포켓 포장으로 된 파우더 클렌징 제품이다. 이 가루 제품으로 세안을 하면 부드럽고 풍부한 거품으로 깔끔하게 씻기면서도 너무 건조하거나 거칠지 않은 피부로 만들어준다. 가벼운 용량으로 개별 포장돼 있어 필요한 수량만큼만 골라 가져갈 수도 있다. 32개 포장에 2만원으로 조금 가격이 비싼 편이라 단기간 여행에 가져가는 편이다.
구달의 워터레스트 라스팅 워터오일 제품이다. 평소에도 즐겨 쓰는 제품인데 여행에 동반하기에도 꽤 적합하다. 작은 플라스틱 병에 담겼고 용기의 뚜껑도 안전한 편인데, 용량도 100㎖ 이하라 기내에 가지고 탈 수도 있기 때문이다.
구달 워터오일은 빠르게 흡수되는 독특한 질감으로 아주 가볍게 한 겹만 발리는데도 피부에 촉촉함을 남기고 끈적한 오일의 잔여물은 남기지 않는다. 사계절 언제 써도 무방해 여름이나 겨울이나 내 여행의 빠지지 않는 파트너가 됐다. 몇 달 뒤로 계획하고 있는 베트남과 태국 여행에도 이 제품은 반드시 가져갈 예정이다.
지난 크리스마스에 가족들에게 받은 록시땅의 트래블 키트와 소형 향수도 여행 시에는 아주 유용했다. 질이 좋으면서 여행 짐에 넣기도 적절했던 것. 샤워오일과 서플 스킨 오일은 그중에서도 내가 가장 좋아하는 제품으로 사용 후 피부가 한결 촉촉하고 활기있게 변한다. 록시땅의 여행용 자스민과 베르가못 향수는 작고 귀여운 용기와 포장에 먼저 눈이 가는데 향 또한 낮 시간과 밤, 언제 쓰기에도 훌륭하다. 가격대는 조금 비싸지만 여행지에서 작지만 럭셔리한 경험을 하고 싶을 때에 걸맞다.
이것들 외에는 샘플용 제품이나 소용량 제품이 여행에 보다 유용하게 쓰인다. 여행에서는 평소에 쓰던 제품이나 방식에서 벗어나는 것도 재미있다. 물론 아주 예민한 피부가 아니면 말이다. 지난 여행에는 라네즈의 립앤아이 리무버 워터프루프와 설화수의 퍼스트케어 액티베이팅 세럼 엑스, 헤라의 매직스타터 프라이머, 투쿨포스쿨의 펄베이 인베이젼 하이라이터 등의 샘플을 챙겨갔다. 샘플을 테스트해보기에도 좋은 경험이었고 새롭게 좋아하게 된 제품도 생겼다.

Recently I’ve been venturing around the country and abroad on various trips to the likes of Busan, Boseong, and Osaka, Japan, amongst others. When packing for my most recent adventure, I started thinking about how much of a pain it can be to try and condense skincare and makeup for travelling. Luckily, I’ve managed to find a few star products to help make the process much easier, and thought it would be useful to share those with you.
First up is cleansing. I turn to two different products when packing my cleansing step. First is my trusty Su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick, which I usually take on longer trips because it’s a full size product. This is a lovely cleansing stick that I use daily as a creamy, gentle second step cleanser, with a suitable pH. In terms of travelling, it’s perfect- it’s plastic, it’s not heavy, and an easy twist for application. It’s not liquid which means for air travel it can be carried in hand luggage, plus there’s no risk of spillage.
Perhaps even more of a useful travelling product is the Japanese Suisai Beauty Clear Powder. This cleanser comes in tiny, ready to use, packets of powder, making it the perfect travel companion. The powder lathers up into a slightly foamy, creamy face wash, and leaves my skin feeling clean but not at all dry or stripped. They’re so light and compact to carry, they aren’t a liquid, and you can count out the number you need. The only downside is they’re a little pricey, at around 20,000 Korean Won for 32 packets. Because of this, I save them for short trips, taking only a couple of packets at a time.
Another star product for travelling is the Goodal Waterest Lasting Water Oil. This is one of my absolute favourite products in my daily skincare line up, and so the fact that it’s a small plastic bottle, with a secure lid, and under 100 ㎖ (suitable for airplane hand luggage) means I’m very happy I can easily take it with me on my travels!
The product is an amazing light hydrating layer, with an extremely unique texture that absorbs quickly but greatly hydrates the skin, and zero oily residue. It is not a specific seasonal product (for my skin type), so I can take it on year-round trips and it works for summer or winter. I will definitely be taking this with me as I head off to Vietnam and Thailand in the next couple of months, it’s a staple!
For Christmas last year I received a beautiful L’Occitane travel set from my Mum and three lovely small L’Occitane perfumes from my sister. These have been so useful for my travelling over the past few months, and I love having quality products that are also suitable to pack. The shower oil and the supple skin oil are my favourites, and leave my skin feeling so smooth and rejuvenated. The Jasmin and Bergamote perfume is in the cutest little bottle and box, and smells divine for both a day and night scent. Even though the sets are slightly pricey, they have been really lovely to use, and sometimes when you’re travelling, you want a little luxury. These are the products to satisfy that need.
Lastly, I love turning to luxury samples, or mini versions of products I’ve bought. Sometimes it’s fun to switch up your regular routine and use different products on a trip (although not such a good idea if you have very sensitive or reactive skin). I use mini versions of my Laneige Lip & Eye Remover Waterproof, Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum Ex, and Hera Magic Starter primer. I also enjoy taking samples of The History of Whoo Qi and Jin Essence, Su:m37 Waterful Lotion, Too Cool for School Pearl Bay Invasion Highlighter, and many more from my stash. It’s a great way to get through the samples, and possibly find something new to love.
