Jeong Hyunsook took note of special effects that natural materials like mother-of-pearl and crystal can create. Light is that. These two materials belong to luminous materials in that they generate their own light. They create different expressive effects from oil or acrylic colors which show off their presence when they receive light from light sources.

Jeong Hyunsook has broadened her work area by taking note of this attribute of light. Specific materials like flowers, butterflies, and moon jars appeared in her works of art and she was up to geometric abstraction which emphasizes basic elements of molding including lines, sides, dots, etc.

Recently, she recently threw all of these things away and has pursued the world of single colors.
