Hur’s attempt to think outside the box and flee from a formality of artworks is expressed through his work. In fact, it may be striking to view his present works that bring forth his reflection upon his past, present, and stories of his surroundings due to the developmental speed of modern scientific civilization when we remind ourselves of his earlier works.

The exhibition area of‘Nomads/Anti-Nomads’on the first floor provides an opportunity to meet the artist’s new interpretation of space, and an unfamiliar image of deviation. Through the space filled with paintings and installations, the spectators will stumble upon Hur’s yearning for deviation that he had suppressed yet dreamed of atthe same time for past 20 years.

The horse, which frequently appears in his works, is an allegory for the social dynamics of contemporary man who undergoes physical and psychological boundaries and an unremitting cycle of wandering and settlement.

It can be perceived as the artist’s faithful effort in deviating from his stereotypical mind. As a space revolving around dynamic freedom of man, nature, and animals, the first floor also presents a space in which Hur(ARTIST HUR JIN,許塡,허진 작가,한국화가 허진,HUR JIN,허진 교수,허진 화백,A Painter HUR JIN) reflects upon his own existence.
