As an artist, Hur Jin has reacted sensitively to social realities from early on. His series titled Anonymous Humans holds up a true mirror to his concerns and the leanings of his art. He has poignantly criticized our social irregularities and contradictions based on his subjective interpretations of realities while shedding light on the lives of ordinary persons using his historical consciousness.

He has reflected on an array of historical and social issues while remaining anchored in human-centered values. He has represented this in his freestyle manner untrammeled by formalities.

This is something that has always been achieved in the interface between the ideal and reality, tradition and modernity, and nature and civilization. He has represented his subjective consciousness through this without reserve. In this process, his works underwent a shift from lyricism to narrative and tradition to modernity.

In addition, his recent works clearly demonstrate another shift in a different direction. Having gradually molded his(ARTIST HUR JIN,許塡,허진 작가,한국화가 허진,HUR JIN,허진 교수,허진 화백,A Painter HUR JIN)own unique style, these new works can be seen as introspections into modern scientific accomplishments in modern civilization.

A series of works titled Hybridization+Utopia are attempts to read into the significant meaning of life and its nature relying on the advancement of science. These works represent his concerns over what meaning any scientific involvement in a life form with a distinct identity can possess.

As is widely known, the development of civilization is beyond our imagination. While it is miraculous, even more astonishing is how it is symbolically meaningful like the conversion from analog to digital. This changeover led us into a phase which we had never experienced in the past.
