I dream of the world where complex and multi-layered truth exists, beyond the material world. Through my drawing, I wish to create the realm where various existences come to life, free of the visible world.

Contemplation has been the title of my works, which demonstrates my goal and intention as an artist over the past 30 years. It represents my 'internal insight' on the nature, and also the place where the traces of lives are mingled with the memories of more universal existences.

The so-called Korean identity' as well as my own identity as an artist will come to light in the very place, for I can share the sentiment of us' with every existence by the medium of my work of art I use indian ink and color on Korean traditional paper, in a way to explore the identity of us' through the sentiment dissolved in our collective unconscious. Utilizing both of the bae-chae' and 'baek-bal' techniques is intended to arouse the emotion related to the images in my drawings.

The bae-chae, we' technique is to paint colons on the back of paper several times, and the 'baek-bal, HiR is to put glue or egg white on cenain area so that the applied area would remain uncolored and white) I employ soft earth and powdered calcite normally used in mural painting, therefore our sentiment can be diffused widely without any limit of space and time. Our internal insight' has a capacity to integrate individuals as a whole.
