The idea of my drawing always starts from observing the nature. This observation is not just focused on the nature being presented before my eyes; the nature belongs to me, and at the same time belongs to numerous individuals existing throughout the past and future.

Seen through the eyes of those people, the nature reveals its true essence by the collective unconscious residing inside of me. As a result, it becomes a sentiment which is vague and abstract, yet undeniable. I express this sentiment-the object under my gaze and the memory associated with it-on my drawing.

The work of my art is not simply the realistic portrayal of the material world. Just as a beam of plain sunlight passing through a prism is altered into different colors, I try to portray the image which is refracted through the unconscious memory and projected onto the inner world. I strive to capture the sentiment arisen from the object of observation, not the object itself.
