I had a pleasure of teaching Mr. Choi Ye-Tae at our university in the winter of 1993. Actually it might be more proper to say that I shared with him experience of painting rather than teaching him. Because teaching is done in that way in our profession.

1993년 겨울, 나는 본 대학 조형미술학과 회화강좌를 통하여 최예태 작가(崔禮泰 作家)씨를 지도하는 즐거움을 가졌습니다. 사실은 가르친다기보다는 회화의 경험을 함께 나누었다고 하는 편이 훨씬 적절한 표현 일 것입니다. 왜냐하면 우리들의 직업적인 현실이 이와 같은 방법으로 이루어졌기 때문입니다.

Choi Ye-Tae is an established mature artist with exuberant treasure of knowledge about practical skills. He is gifted with inherent talent to express his wisdom and sensitivity through his works.

최예태 작가는 실기에 대한 압도적인 지식의 보고를 풍성히 지니고 있는 성숙된 기성 화가입니다. 그는 자신의 독자적인 테크닉을 충분히 지니고 있으며 색채 화가로써 대단히 숙련된 자질과 상상력, 그리고 지혜와 감성을 발휘할 수 있는 천부적인 능력을 지니고 있습니다.

He is also deeply interested in the traditional techniques of his country as well as modern painting skills. He exists in the world of cosmic ability for judgement ,and passionate and deep reflection.

서양화가 최예태(CHOI YE TAE)씨는 또한 자기나라의 전통적인 회화기법에 대하여 지대한 관심을 가지고 있을 뿐만 아니라, 현대회화에 관해서도 각별한 흥미를 나타내고 있는 것입니다. 그는 남다른 판단력과 열정적이고 깊은 사색을 할 수 있는 대 우주적인 능력위에 굳건히 존재 합니다.

I firmly believe that he is filled with creative spirit and indomitable passion for work. He surely has all the qualification to seek his career as an artist.

나의 개인적인 견해로는 그(ARTIST CHOI YE TAE, 최예태 화백)가 화가로써 창작활동에 진지하게 참여하는 정신과, 작업에 대한 도저(到底)한 의지를 불태우고 있다고 생각합니다. 또 그가 화가로서의 활동을 추구하는데 있어서 충분한 자양분을 지니고 있다고 사료되는 것입니다.
