Kim Myung Sik(서양화가 김명식, 김명식 작가) who has drawn those close human life such as a still life, scenery and men is having his the 20th personal exhibition. His artworks are famous for it's fantastic colors and sentimental forms and this exhibition is another chance of reaffirming it. He is one of those artists from the plastic arts. As is shown in his career records...

a Golden Prize in the Concrete Art Exhibition a Special Prize in the Choongang Press Great Art Exhibition and a Special Prize in the Exhibition of Korea Artist Association.

His(キムミョンシク,Andy Kim,KIM MYUNG SIK,金明植,김명식 화백,김명식 교수) artworks were for the last 30 years. he is one of those artist who hasn't changed his patterns and regarded his ways. The concrete arts is a part of art which developed through the concret art exhibition. this is different from the realstic paintings of the National Exhibition or the ones of Mokwoo Group.

These are based on re-formation of the form and texture of the surface. It has abstract and representational aspects. But it is different from these two. It's not abstract art because it's not to tally based on what's inside the artist and neither is representation because it doesn't draw what the actually is.

So the concret arts can show what is inside the mind of artist through the forms he see which he draws it in his artworks. The word concret arts I use here is not the classic field concept such as abstract and representation.

It's one of the mode that I'm talking about. Not like photo-realism which gains scientific precision by showing exaclty the realistic form, the concrete arts draws what the artists feels not what he sees. So These is the reason of the re-formation of forms and the use of unrealistic colors. This is called ‘An approach from a mental image.’ △Yun jin Seob(art critić)/윤진섭(미술평론가)
