서양화가 박은주 작품은 자유분방한 형태로 추구되는 비형상성(informe)을 표현의 기본 틀로 하고 있다. 이런 비형상성은 그의 내면의 세계와 자신의 감정을 표출하는 작업과정을 통해 하나의 작품으로 재탄생된다.
The works of the Western-style painter, Eun-joo Park, takes the “informe“ which is pursued in a freewheeling form as a basic framework of expression. This “informe“ is reborn as a work through the process of expressing her inner world and her feelings.
화면은 거칠고 두텁게 칠해진 마티에르(matière)는 효과를 극대화 시켜준다. 그의 작품은 검정에 가까운 어두운 톤에서 시작하고 이는 다시 짙은 청색이나 빨간색으로 자연스럽게 이어지고 수많은 색과 형태로 표현된다. 어두운 청색이 세속적인 이미지라면 검정은 세속에서 벗어난 무상(無常)의 색인 동시에 탈속(脫俗)적 느낌이 있다.
The rough and thickly painted matière on the canvas maximizes the effect. Her work begins in a dark tone close to black, which smoothly turns to dark blue or red and is expressed in many colors and forms. If dark blue represents a secular image, black is the color of transience breaking out of the mundane world and also gives the unworldly feeling.
박은주 작가는 거칠고, 마음대로 휘젓고 노니는 것 같지만, 치밀한 계산이 깔렸다. 화면구성에서 채울 때와 비울 때, 어떻게 색을 이끌어가고 변화를 줘야 하는지, 자신의 방식으로 풀어간 흔적을 알 수 있다. 이런 바탕 위 감정은 다양성을 띠게 되고, 색과 색이 서로 엉키고 섞여 깊이 있는 묘한 뉘앙스를 준다.
Artist Park Eun Ju may seem rough and freewheeling, however, bases her work on an elaborate scheme. Her works show the trace of her resolution she came up with on where to fill and empty on the canvas in terms of composition, how to drive and change colors, and so on. On this scheme, emotions develop diversity and colors are mixed with each other to give a peculiar nuance.
그의 화두(話頭)는 ‘기억’과 ‘사랑’이다. 산언저리에 걸친 둥근 달에서 몇 해 전 돌아가신 아버지 대한 그리움과 애정이며, 무채색으로 표현된 도시 뒷골목 가로등, 정물 속의 꽃 등은 사랑을 의미한다. 단순히 알 수 없는 형상으로 표현된 작품 속 수많은 형태와 색채 그리고 선과 점 등에도 그는 나름의 의미를 부여하고 있다.
Her theme is 'memory' and 'love.' The round moon over the ridge of a mountain, the yearning and affection for her father who passed away a few years ago, the streetlight in the back street of a city expressed in achromatic colors, and flowers in still life mean love. She has given many forms, colors, lines and points in the works expressed in simply unknown forms their own meaning.
