필자가 흥미를 가지고 되풀이 하고 있는 작업은 섬유가 갖고 있는 자연스러운 주름이나 늘어지는 곡선 등의 가변성을 작품에 도입하는 일이다. 여러 개의 띠를 짜고 규칙적인 간격으로 꾸미고 펴보면 리드미컬한 공간과 곡선이생기고 벽에 걸었을 때 생기는 음영까지도 작품과 일체가 되는 시각미를 형성 한다.

Recently, I am interested in, and therefore, repeatedly working with the variability of the natural folds and drapes of the fabric. Arranging bands or strips of fabric at an interval and folding and unfolding them create rhythmical spaces and curves. The shadows that appear on the wall when these bands are hung also become a part of the art work.

이런 작업은 사각의 작은 색종이를 이리 저리 가위질해서 펴보고 놀았던 어린 시절을 회상하게 해 주었고 이런 체험이 현재의 나의 작품과 깊은 연관성이 있다는 것을 부인 할 수 없다.

This reminds me of my childhood play where I would fold colored papers and cut them out with scissors. I cannot deny the strong influence it has to my current work.

필자는 하나하나의 무표정한 띠를 예술로서 변질시키는 작업에 몰두하고 있다. 매일 매일 색종이를 가위질 하고 펴보아도 싫증이 나지 않았던 어린 시절처럼.

I am really attracted to turning these expressionless strips into work of arts, just like my childhood when I could never be tired of playing with the papers and scissors.
