The nudity means going further away from the civilized attributes, which have made the completion of the elegant human being, and becomes the soil to produce the ‘libido’, which has been cursed by sacred people. However there are other positions on this, the nudity that has been newly witnessed by the people who lived in ‘the Garden of Eden’ is the same as the opening for truth, and it has the potential to become the affair that reveals the possibilities of knowledge.

벌거벗음은 우아한 인간을 완성시키는 문명의 속성들에서 멀어지는 것을 의미하며, 성스러운 이들이 저주하는 리비도를 양산하는 토양이 된다. 하지만 이에 대한 다른 입장 역시 존재하는데, 낙원에 살던 이들이 새로이 눈을 뜨고 목격하게 된 벌거벗음은 진실의 열림과도 같으며, 지식의 가능성을 밝혀주는 사건이 될 가능성을 품고 있다는 것이다.

“Seeing the nudity becomes to realize the possibilities of the pure knowledge, before or behind the objective attribute beyond all secrets. [Georgio Agamben, Nuditá, p. 131] In other words, through the nudity we would be able to witness the real appearance of 'them' concealed by classified and socialized clothes.

즉 “벌거벗은 신체를 본다는 건 모든 비밀 너머, 객관적 속성 이전이나 그 너머에 있는 순수한 지식-인식 가능성을 깨닫게 되는 것이다. (조르조 아감벤, 『벌거벗음』, p.131)” 즉 벌거벗음을 통해 우리는 계급화되고 사회화된 옷으로 감추고 있는 ‘그들’의 진짜 모습을 목격할 수 있게 된다는 것이다.

Like a joke, the artist says that, “The works, which have made with the method of 19th century in the 20th century, are exhibited in the 21st century.” At first glance, his work has endured a long time, and it looks like a relic placed in building that is built up solidly for this time. However in fact, they have taken the body, skin, pores, and hair of someone, who lives contemporarily wit us, in the method of life-casting using the plaster.

김일용 작가는 농담처럼 “19세기 방식으로 20세기에 제작한 작품을 21세기에 전시한다”고 말한다. 얼핏 그의 작업은 오랜 시간을 버텨내고, 그 시간만큼 굳건하게 세워진 건축물 안에 안치된 유물처럼 보이기도 한다. 하지만 사실 그것들은 우리와 동시대에 살고 있는 누군가의 몸을, 피부를, 땀구멍을, 체모를 석고를 이용해 라이프캐스팅의 방식으로 떠낸 것이다.

For this reason his fragile and delicate works present the part of casting body, sigh, pain, and sorrow, moreover his work is a bit erotic and sado-masochism as well.

고로 연약하고 섬세한 석고로 되어있는 그의 작업에는 캐스팅된 신체의 일부와 한숨, 고통, 서러움 등이 고스란히 머물러 있다. 아티스트 김일용 작업은 일면 매우 에로틱하며, 일면 사도-마조히즘적이기까지 하다.
